Minister of Security Pays Courtesy Call on CR

KAMPALA: On Friday February 18, 2019, the Minister of Security, Gen. Elly Tumwine, paid a courtesy call on Chief Registrar, HW Esta Nambayo.
The two discussed how the Ministry of Security can channel issues that involve cases in courts, if not handled, that can escalate into insecurity.
It was agreed that where they (Security) come across such cases that require action by the Judiciary, they can be referred to the Inspectorate of Courts and where necessary,draw the attention of the Chief Registrar.
The CR briefed him on the innovations in the Judiciary which could help on such issues. These included; the toll-free lines, the Chief Justice's Practice Direction on handling land matter as well as the work of the Inspectorate of Courts, among others.
The Minister was happy that the Judiciary is taking great strides in enhancing its image. He pledged to cooperate with the courts whenever need arises.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Registrar, HW Jamson Karemani as well as Mr.Isaiah Gumira, the legal assistant to the Minister.
